Personal parcels and gifts
Most of our customers are families sending things to relatives abroad: Eid clothes, wedding outfits, mithai, spices and small gifts.
Popular personal shipments
- Clothing and wedding outfits (see shipping clothing)
- Dry, sealed food such as spices, tea and packed sweets (see food and spices)
- Books, photo albums and keepsakes
- Small household items and gifts
Gift allowances
Several countries let small gifts between individuals in without tax. For example, the UK normally allows gifts up to £39 and Canada up to CAD 60. Anything above that, or anything bought for resale, is taxed. Each country page explains the rules.
Packing tips for family parcels
- Pack food and clothes in separate sealed bags so a leak cannot spoil the outfits
- Keep labels on all food packets
- Do not put cash, gold or jewellery in the parcel
- Write a full list of contents with values; we will turn it into the customs declaration
