Volumetric weight calculator
Measure your box and see the weight you will actually be charged for. It is the higher of the real weight and the volumetric weight.
Worked example
A box of 50 × 40 × 30 cm weighing 6 kg: 50 × 40 × 30 = 60,000, divided by 5,000 = 12 kg. You are charged for 12 kg, not 6 kg. Repack into a 40 × 30 × 30 cm box and the volumetric weight drops to 7.2 kg.

Ask on WhatsAppWhat is volumetric weight?
It is a weight worked out from the size of a box: length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 5,000 for most courier services. Carriers charge the higher of this and the actual weight.
Why do carriers use volumetric weight?
Aircraft space is limited by size as well as weight. A large, light box takes the space of a heavier one, so it is charged as if it were heavier.
Which divisor should I use?
Use 5,000 for courier (express and economy). Air cargo commonly uses 6,000. If you are not sure, use 5,000; it gives the more cautious figure.
